Getting Things Done On-time with Due Dates

One of the most-requested features from our users has been due dates on issues. We’ve been very careful about keeping DoneDone as simple as possible, without all the excess of dropdowns and input boxes that mostly go unused in other issue trackers. So, we wanted to get this just right – not too much and not too little. We’re excited to release due dates today! You can assign due dates to any issue when you create or edit them within DoneDone:

Additionally, you can assign due dates when you bulk edit issues. For those of you that have been waiting a long time for this feature, it’s a great way to retroactively integrate due dates into your projects.

On the issue’s detail page, you’ll see the due date for that issue next to the priority and status. For issues whose due date hasn't passed yet, the due date will match the priority color. For issues whose due date has passed, you'll see the due date in red.

We’ve added the due date to your list of issues as well.

Due dates now appear on issue lists.

You can then easily filter and sort by due dates. Not only can you search for issues due within a given date range, but we’ve given you a couple of standard one-click options you might find useful – Issues Overdue and Issues Due Today. Due date is also sortable. Click on the sort option and issues will be sorted chronologically by when they’re due.

The due date feature in DoneDone is straightforward, and we hope, unobtrusive. There are no email reminders and your screen doesn’t melt when a bug you’re working on is past due. We know how quickly priorities shift in the heat of finishing a project. So, for this first release of due dates, we’ve kept it slim. Do let us know how they’re working for you and what we can do to make the experience better! Send us your feedback via email or Twitter (@getdonedone).
